I'm sorry it's not a Palin-free birthday, but I hope it's a happy one anyway.

She has to have bendy straws? Did I read that right? First-class travel or private jet, sure; wireless computer hookup and water bottles, yeah okay; but bendy straws?

The darling of the American Right won't come to talk to you if you don't have bendy straws. Gee whiz, gosh, golly, whillickers, that makes me want to vote for her RIGHT NOW! One has to have guiding principles, after all, and one cannot compromise on THOSE!

Unless, of course, this is similar to Van Halen's 'brown M&Ms' clause...

I've never even heard of the Charity of Hope before.

Something from Crossroads, apparently. As a 'conservative Christian', she'd be right up their alley, no matter what her politics may be.

Ahhh, okay.

I'll be honest, curiosity keeps compelling me to stop by their complex one day, just to see what's there. I remember one year, driving by, I saw this massive sign saying "Virtual Reality Jesus" or something across the front, so you could relive Christmas or the Crucifixion or something like that....

They did a perfect replica of the Tabernacle one time, so my mother told me. Apparently it was exactly the dimensions and contained the precise items as described in Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Interesting, but as God does not live in a tent I wouldn't have found it very theologically stimulating; as an archaeological exhibit demonstrating early appreciation of God, sure, but not much beyond that.

Virtual Reality Jesus... sounds intriguing.
