So here's what happened today:
  • Get to gym lecture about 5 minutes early, and immediately start trying to figure out how to finish chem lab, calc homework, and go to my advisor's office in the space of an hour. In the meantime, I started staring at my chem lab and working on that. 5 minutes later, someone comes in and tells us we can just sign in and leave. Woo!
  • Book it to the SCC to get some hard-core study on and immediately get sidetracked reading the board. Just as I finish and start typing on my chem lab, Shaun pops up on AIM and I have a nice IM conversation with an underlying sinking feeling on my part. I get nothing done on my chem lab as the clock starts rolling to 10:40 and I run to math recitation.
  • I decide that I don't have time to hit the advisor since I'm running late to calc already, and walk on over there, where I sit down and immediately pound out a chem lab on notebook paper. After about 10 minutes (the length of time it took me to write out the world's shortest lab report), it occurred to everyone that the TA wasn't there and so we dispersed, mainly with grumbles since most of us were wanting to get our tests back today.
  • Head over to the advisor's and immediately Q-drop physics with few qualms. I then got an appointment to talk with Hurley about switching majors for next Tuesday.
  • Return to the room triumphantly, with frozen Jose Ole taquitos and a Dr. Pepper for lunch. I told Alex about the drop and she immediately berated me because I probably could have gotten a C in the course. And now, of course I see that I probably could have fairly easily (McAlpine curves, and my test grades really weren't that low). Dammit. But I'll just take it next semester and hopefully I won't just be making it up as I go along that time around.
  • Go to chem lab feeling kind of nervous about getting back the second test and also about the lab quiz (and also just sort of anxious in general). Lab quiz goes so-so and the TA incredibly slowly starts walking around the room, passing back exams. I get mine back and with a slight thrill of dread, pull back the cover sheet to reveal: a 94.5.

I had to restrain myself from doing a happy freak-out dance at that point. The only question I lost points on was the one I had no clue how to do whatsoever. All of my other guesses were right. Plus I got 2.5 points on the bonus problem, despite the fact that I had no work at all.

That was really exactly what I needed to get rid of my qualms.

Alex just got back and had a shitty day apparently; she got a 70 on her calc test and just got pulled over by a cop and is crying and freaking out. And I don't know what to tell her, so it's kinda awkward right now. Hm... I think I'll just try to calm her down so it doesn't get really nervous in here again.
