Blech. Man, the Oscars sucked. <shakes fist> Mitch and Mickey were robbed! (Belleville Rendezvous was also cool, but I still have to go for A Mighty Wind.)

Do I have to turn in my geek card for rooting against LOTR for basically everything? ROTK was just way too "THIS!! IS!!! EPIC!!!!" as far as I was concerned, and diverged quite a bit from the book to boot. Yes, I know it was a great piece of work and it was a big undertaking to make and I did like them overall, but I don't think it deserved everything it got.

Despite seeing it from near the back of a poorly set up ballroom with such awful sound I could barely hear what was going on, Lost in Translation was hands down the best movie I saw last year. Just... gorgeous. It gave me the same feeling I got from Amelie, and that's an awesome thing.

So, in conclusion, Steve Martin needs to host the Oscars again.
Thank you.

Apparently, the Associated Press has a time machine. Say hi to Doc Brown for me, Allison Linn!

Also, as you can see by my current music, the new John Wesley Harding album is out, and it's really great.
We knew this already from Man With No Shadow, but now everyone can get the CD, not just people who hang out at college radio stations (or who have friends that do). ;)

Well, this is interesting: AIM's started installing spyware. (That may be where you got that WildTangent from, Am.)
Edited to add that upon asking, my sister did just upgrade her AIM, which did install WildTangent, and I know for a fact that Viewpoint Media thingy is an ad delivery system (not spyware per se, but it can't be uninstalled as long as you use AIM). So I can confirm that this is a true report.

For those of you who like to not have random things downloading all the time, here's some options:
-- Downgrade. AIM 4.8 is still just fine.
-- Use gaim. The Windows port is not as polished as the Linux version, but tabbed IM windows are handy as hell, and it's definitely usable.
-- Use Trillian or Miranda IM or you could check out Jabber if you have a short buddylist (it won't download it for you, but the clients are very nice once you have people on there).

I'm also amused/concerned that someone at the A&M sports office has gotten a virus or spambot on their computer, and has sent out about 3 or 4 messages tonight alone to the mailing list of people who have sports cards. Not that that affects really anyone on my friends list, but still....yeah.
