So, how about that "friend of" debate thing going on?

Here's what I'd like to see happen:
-- Split the current Friends list into 4 categories: Friends, Communities, Feeds, and Journals I'm Just Reading. Having the "Journals I'm Just Reading" list allows people to read journals of people that they may not be friends with or even may not know at all but are interested in.
-- Change "Friends Of" to "Journals Who Read Me." Make it still optionally hideable.
-- Make friendship mutual (closer to the original definition than the current LJ meaning). If someone lists you as a friend and you don't list them back, then no one else besides you and them will be able to see that they list you. (I think this would also be fairly easy to implement.) People who you list as friends who haven't listed you back would appear in your "Journals I'm Just Reading" list.
-- Make a new security level for "All users whose journals you read". This allows people you are interested in to see more of your entries (similar to what you currently get with making friends-only entries after adding new people). This wouldn't replace "Friends only" as that's potentially useful under this theoretical system as well.

I know that's not a big shift, but changing the terminology would probably get rid of a lot of peoples' concerns. People will probably be a lot less annoyed with being "read by" someone they don't like than they will with being a "friend of" theirs.

Does that make sense at all?
