Employment
I have a job! Yay!
Yesterday, I was very tired from having a headache when I went to bed, but I got myself up in plenty of time to do the shower and dressing things. I was still nervous (partially about the job and partially left over from the day before), but I found classical music on the radio which just helped immensely. I'm not one of those people who claims classical music is relaxing, but it is good for getting me in a much better mood a lot of the time. (It also helped that whatever piece it was that was on was a good loud one that got me awake and in ass-kicking mode.)
Interview #1 was really short, just about 10-15 minutes, but I got a good picture of what the job would entail and I felt like I made a good impression. Afterwards, I drove back over to the apartment and took a nap, before getting dressed up again and running off to McD's for Chicken McNuggets of joy before the next interview. Interview #2 was longer, but I never really got entirely sure what they wanted me to do, and I also didn't feel as qualified for the things I did know they wanted, so I probably sounded really tentative, although I didn't feel bad about the interview afterwards particularly. Class (artificial intelligence) wasn't terribly exciting, but I was surprised at the end when my teacher asked me if I had gotten an email about this from someone (I hadn't), since they're apparently looking for people to go. So....yeah. That was kind of cool. (Reminder to self: email people to ask about that.)
Then I stayed up late talking to Dianna and Alysa and Brian (who was over randomly to hang out since Dianna and I ran into him at HEB the other day).
Today I slept in, got up, got dressed, poked around online and looked at my homework for AI, and then got a call from Job #1, telling me I'd gotten the job, and for likely more money than I thought I was going to get. Rock.
So now I'm going to be a student technician for the Texas Transportation Institute.
Class. I picked up the mail on the way back, which included a new CD, which I'm liking pretty well, although I haven't given it a super close listen-through. If anyone wants to check them out, I have a 97's soundboard boot that contains their set since they were the openers (which was where I'd heard of them from...I listened to bits of their CDs at the station and liked them pretty well, and then promptly forgot about them until I was wandering around Amazon looking for CDs to buy).
It's been a pretty decent couple of days.
And tomorrow we get a random holiday. Maybe I'll go take pictures up in Bryan to celebrate.
