Flash stuff
May. 28th, 2008 02:08 pmI don't normally post stuff like this, but this seems kind of important.
There's an arbitrary code-execution exploit that was just discovered for Flash that is apparently in the wild, which in less computer-geeky terms means that your computer could be compromised just by going to a webpage that has a malicious Flash item inserted, and there isn't a fix for it available yet. (And the item could be a 1x1 pixel, so you wouldn't necessarily know.)
If you use Firefox, you can take care of this by installing the Flashblock extension, and then only viewing Flash items you trust. If you use IE, you'd have to disable all Flash for now. (If you use IE 7, you can try using this, which will at least let you sort of automate turning it off and on. Or you could try this, which is overkill, but it supposedly has flashblock in it, so hey.)
In any case, keep an eye out for an update from Adobe for Flash soon, hopefully.
