I haven't been playing my DS tons and tons lately (my poor weedy town in Animal Crossing :(), but I went ahead and picked up Elite Beat Agents after work yesterday. It is, as expected, delightfully crack-filled. I suck horribly at it, but I've managed to beat it on Easy and Normal (Easy was yesterday, Normal was today -- I was sick from work, so there was a lot of DS playing today).
The Christmas level is OMG the saddest thing ever. Holy crap. All the other levels are like, "Help the former baseball player defeat the fire-breathing golem and impress some kid," or "Cheer on the rich girls who got wrecked on some island," or "Help the ninja guy steal back the plans to his family's auto company's car," and so on. And in the middle of this, we have "Little girl asks for a girl teddy bear for Christmas from her daddy. Daddy goes on business trip. Daddy doesn't come back. Girl and mom look at daddy's diary, bake him a birthday cake (and the candles get blown out by the wind), and at the end Daddy's ghost shows up and brings her the teddy bear." (If you lose, the end is even worse -- Ten years later, the mom wants to move, the now-teenage girl asks where they would go, and them we cut to her kneeling, clutching the teddy bear, and crying.)
For some reason, it took me for freaking ever to finish the second half of the last level on normal. I restarted it about 25 times, and I don't think I'm exaggerating.
All in all, lots of fun (except the Christmas level, which is SO SAD, but it's done well, and I like the song). I don't know if it'd be easier or not if I knew more of the songs, as it is, I'm only about half and half.
And I totally need an icon of "BULLS."
