I keep forgetting to mention this (well, I haven't mentioned much of anything lately, so that's probably why)....
I saw a really interesting program called "Chasing Saddam's Weapons" on PBS the other day (the day before Kay resigned). I was very impressed by how well they explained everything, and how objective they were overall. The have a couple of video clips online still, but you can read the transcript of the whole show here. The conclusion the program came to in the end was that there weren't really any WMDs there currently, but that the Baathists wanted everyone to think that they did (so nobody would fuck with them, basically). So while the CIA or whoever should have checked more closely whether the information they were getting had any basis in fact, it's not surprising that they had intelligence suggesting that there were WMDs in Iraq. I highly suggest taking a look at it.
Oh, and read it with an open mind, please? Don't take the facts one way or another. Most of the emails they have about the show are either "Thank you for proving there were no WMDs! Bush is evil and lies to everyone!" or "But there were WMDs! Bush said so!" Read the facts. Make a decision based on them. And things are good.
Edit: I also just read this article in the NYT on the same subject, which is also worth a look.
