Good grief.

So my car is fixed, brilliant, shiny, lovely and neat. All the dents are gone, it has been washed, waxed, and vacuumed.

Take it to the Toyota dealership here and they offer me less than the dealership in CS. Which was before I got the hail damage fixed.

I just.... GAH.
How freaking hard is it to get a REASONABLE offer for my perfectly fucking decent car?!

A dealer will generally give you a lower offer than anyone else. Have you tried putting an ad out on Craigslist and see if anyone bites? Ask them to pay you in cash, so you don't have to worry about it too much.

Did you go by yourself to get it appraised? Alot of dealers will try and take advantage like that. Also, maybe they figured that since you're not buying a more expensive car with them that they don't want to try and give you a good price for it..?

I say go to kelley blue book's web site and get an appraisal off of there. Take a few hundred off and sell the car either privately or take it to Canada with ya and sell it up there.

Actually, you can't sell it in Canada unless you import it -- and importing it is such a pain in the butt (even if they allow you to do it), which is why Sarah's trying to sell her car now. (8-/

And if you import it duty free (which you can only do if you file the right paperwork when you land) and then sell it in the next year, Canada will come after you for the duty. Good times.

And since she doesn't officially land until next year, once we've got our immigration stuff worked out, we'd have to find a place to stash said car for around 9 months, while she continued to make payments on it.

*sigh* This has certainly been an educational experience for both of us.
