Weeeeeeeell. That was an eventful day. Even though I was in my PJs until after 5.

Woke up, didn't feel awesome. Took a shower, started getting ready for work, decided at 8:30 it wasn't going to happen, called in, climbed back in to bed at 9, slept until 1. Got up again at 1, doodled around the internet, had some Sprite, took some medicine, got tired again at 3, napped until 5. Got up to doodle around on the internet some more, got another mug of Sprite, and tried to think of what I was doing tonight.

At about 5:30, my speakers make a crazy loud noise, and the lights dim, and my computer lets me know I'm on backup power and I probably should be shutting things down about now if you don't mind. Yes, boys and girls, it's a good old-fashioned brownout.
So I shut down the computer, and turn off my speakers and the lights, and go get dressed since I may have to venture out for food.
After a couple more minutes, I decide to call Sandra and see if they have power, which apparently they were browning out too.

So, I figure, it'll be resolved pretty soon, I'll just light a candle in the kitchen in case I want to see in there, and got on the phone to call my mom since I hadn't talked to her in a bit. Hooray corded phones! This is exactly why I wanted one. Even though my phone kept asking me to set the time on it every time it got enough power for the answering machine. So we talked for a while, and I noticed after a while that it wasn't asking me to set the time any more. Get off the phone, check the lights, and sure enough, they're out entirely.

So I decided to go out and get some medicine and some dinner. Started off to Albertson's or Wal-Mart by here, and got as far as the high school before it became obvious that that light was out and therefore a bit backed up. U-turned around there, and headed off to Kroger. Dark. Ran across the street to CVS. Dark. Realized that I may have to go somewhat farther afield and headed off up 6 to see if Bryan was any better, but noticed that the mall and all that area had power, so I went up to the Wal-Mart in Bryan, called Sandra, found out they had power, and then tried to buy some medicine and dinner. (Sonic was rather packed.)

Got over to Sandra's, started munching on cheese sticks and watching Friday Night Lights (I don't think I'd watch it regularly, but I wanted to see if they did a decent job of capturing it or not), and 5 minutes later, the power goes out.

I was glad I decided to go for the large soda at Sonic.

The power came back right before 10, just in time for the Daily Show, which was nice of them. Apparently a transformer in a nearby county blew up, which meant that basically everyone in Brazos County lost most of their power (including A&M... hopefully all of our servers will reboot happily, we'll see tomorrow, I suppose).

I just got back here at about 11:30, and I think my fridge managed to keep cold/frozen, which is very good. (Sandra and I ran by Albertson's by her since they had power, and I bought some ice (and Dr. Pepper ;)) in case I needed it to keep things cool if the power hadn't come back on by a few hours later.)

(If any of you are worried about my sickness, don't be. I think it's a sinus infection, I get at least one a year. It's not a big deal, I'll just have to see how I feel tomorrow, normally the first couple of days are the only ones that suck. Afterwards, I sound awful, but I feel fine.)
